Strip Parquet (Lamparquet) Flood Damage Restoration – Seminario Conciliar
Seminario Conciliar de Madrid · La Latina (Central Madrid) · Red and white eucalyptus lamparquet after water damage

Work performed
Full recovery and restoration of the red and white eucalyptus lamparquet (thin solid-wood strip parquet) floor in the assembly hall of the Seminario Conciliar de Madrid (La Latina).
Damage diagnosis
An accidental pipe burst caused extensive flooding. The hygroscopic swelling of the wood debonded and buckled entire sections.
Working process and finish
We opened up the perimeter expansion gaps to relieve the stresses. We monitored the forced drying with a calcium carbide (CM) moisture meter until the screed read 1.8% CM. The damaged slats were replaced with new eucalyptus of identical size and bonded with a high-modulus elastic silane polymer. We finished with flat sanding and three coats of 2K waterborne varnish with a reaction-to-fire classification from the manufacturer.
